As part of the Horizon Europe MAPIT Project (WIDERA), consortium partners carried out a study visit to Istanbul University to exchange knowledge and explore institutional approaches to research management, international collaboration, and research support services. The visit formed part of MAPIT’s ongoing efforts to enhance institutional capacity and promote the sharing of best practices among project partners.
During the programme, participants gained valuable insights into Istanbul University’s research management framework, institutional support mechanisms, and strategies for fostering excellence in research and innovation. Discussions focused on the role of research support offices in facilitating project development, increasing institutional competitiveness, and strengthening participation in international research programmes.
The visit also covered key topics including national and international research funding opportunities, Horizon Europe project development processes, internationalisation strategies, and mechanisms for expanding academic and research collaborations. Through presentations and interactive discussions, participants exchanged experiences and identified approaches that can support more effective research management within their respective institutions.
Beyond knowledge sharing, the study visit provided an important platform for networking and building stronger relationships among consortium partners. The exchange of experiences and good practices contributed to the MAPIT Project’s objectives of improving research management capacity, encouraging institutional learning, and fostering long-term cooperation across the European Research Area.
The MAPIT Project extends its sincere appreciation to Istanbul University for its warm hospitality and for sharing its expertise and experience with the consortium. Study visits such as this play a vital role in strengthening research support capacities, promoting international collaboration, and laying the foundation for sustainable partnerships that advance research and innovation across Europe.
