The first Learning from the Future Conference, organised under the MAPIT Project in close collaboration with the Institute for Future Research (IFR) and WEglobal, was successfully held on 26 February 2025 in Eskişehir, hosted by ATAP A.Ş. The event marked an important milestone in advancing the project’s mission to strengthen innovation ecosystems and foster forward-looking institutional capacities within Türkiye and across Europe.
The conference brought together Dr. Hasan Çiçek, Deputy Governor of Eskişehir; Metin Saraç, Chairman of ATAP A.Ş.; Dr. Sedat Telçeken, General Manager of ATAP A.Ş.; as well as leading representatives from academia, industry, and the public sector. Their active participation enriched the discussions, which focused on how ATAP can strategically position itself towards 2030 by employing the Learning from the Future Methodology — a structured foresight-based approach that encourages proactive thinking and long-term planning.
Designed as an interactive and collaborative workshop, the conference offered participants a stimulating environment to exchange ideas and co-create insights on ATAP A.Ş.’s development trajectory and future-oriented strategies. Divided into six thematic groups, participants worked on diverse sectoral perspectives, identifying key drivers of change, emerging opportunities, and potential challenges that may shape the institution’s role in the evolving innovation landscape.
Throughout the sessions, participants explored practical ways to integrate foresight methodologies into strategic decision-making and organisational development. The discussions highlighted the importance of continuous learning, adaptability, and stakeholder collaboration in building resilient and future-ready institutions.
Through this activity, the MAPIT Project actively contributed to promoting foresight-based learning, institutional transformation, and cross-sector cooperation, in full alignment with its overarching goal to enhance innovation management and research capacity across the European Research Area.
