The Second “Learning from the Future” Conference – İzmir Institute of Technology (İYTE), Türkiye

The second “Learning from the Future” Conference, organised and conducted in cooperation with the Institute for Future Research (IFR) and WEglobal within the framework of the MAPIT Project, was successfully held on 5 March 2025, hosted by the İzmir Institute of Technology (İYTE).

The conference was honoured by the participation of Prof. Dr. Yusuf Baran, Rector of İYTE; Prof. Dr. Cem Çelebi, Vice Rector for Research; Dr. Sinan Yılmaz, General Manager of Teknopark İzmir; along with distinguished academics and representatives from the private sector. Their valuable contributions enriched the discussions and enhanced the collaborative atmosphere of the event.

Designed as an interactive workshop, the conference created a dynamic environment to reflect on İYTE’s role and future position within the regional innovation ecosystem, particularly in the areas of human resources, technology, and productivity. Using the Learning from the Future Methodology, participants engaged in strategic foresight exercises to help define İYTE’s 2030 vision and identify key pathways for achieving it.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the İzmir Institute of Technology for graciously hosting the event, and to the Institute for Future Research and WEglobal for their outstanding organisation and mentorship in facilitating the conference and workshop sessions.
