MAPIT Project Strengthens Research Collaboration Through Secondment at Fraunhofer IPK

As part of the MAPIT Project, Dr. Başar Şirin from İzmir Institute of Technology (İZTECH) completed a short-term secondment at Fraunhofer IPK – Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology in Berlin, Germany, between 8 and 11 June 2026.

The secondment began with participation in Fraunhofer IPK’s Tech Day “Industrial Metaverse”, which brought together researchers, industry representatives and technology providers from across Europe. The event provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge, discuss emerging developments in industrial metaverse technologies, and explore current trends shaping the future of digital manufacturing and production systems.

During the visit, bilateral meetings were also held between representatives of İZTECH and Fraunhofer IPK to discuss potential areas for future collaboration. The discussions focused on strengthening research cooperation, exchanging expertise, and identifying opportunities for joint activities within the framework of the MAPIT Project.

The secondment contributed to the development of stronger institutional connections between the two organisations and supported the MAPIT Project’s objective of promoting international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and research excellence across Europe.

The MAPIT Project continues to foster partnerships between leading research institutions, creating opportunities for long-term collaboration and innovation within the European research and innovation ecosystem.
