On 15 June 2026, the MAPIT Project, coordinated by İzmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH), successfully organised the “From Ideas to Consortia: Hands-on Project Development Workshop” at Teknopark İzmir. The event brought together representatives from academia, industry, innovation centres, and public institutions to strengthen collaboration and support the development of competitive project proposals under Horizon Europe.
The workshop focused on five selected Horizon Europe calls, providing participants with a practical environment to collaboratively develop project concepts and build strong international consortia. Working in thematic groups, attendees identified common research interests, discussed innovative solutions to shared challenges, and prepared initial concept notes that can serve as the foundation for future project proposals.
Designed as an interactive and practice-oriented event, the workshop encouraged participants to exchange expertise, establish new partnerships, and gain valuable experience in consortium building and proposal development. By bringing together stakeholders from different sectors, the event reinforced the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing European research and innovation priorities.
Beyond generating innovative project ideas, the workshop contributed to strengthening international networks and promoting long-term cooperation among organisations interested in participating in Horizon Europe. The collaborative approach adopted throughout the event helped create new opportunities for future joint initiatives and high-impact research partnerships.
Through activities such as this, the MAPIT Project continues to enhance research and innovation cooperation between the European Research Area (ERA) and Widening countries. By supporting capacity building, international networking, and collaborative project development, MAPIT contributes to creating a stronger and more connected European innovation ecosystem.
