MAPIT Project Strengthens International Research Collaboration through Secondment at Wageningen University & Research

As part of the Horizon Europe MAPIT Project (WIDERA), researchers from KTO Karatay University and AKİTEK successfully completed a research secondment at Wageningen University & Research (WUR) in the Netherlands. The mobility activity aimed to strengthen international collaboration, enhance research management capacities, and promote the exchange of knowledge and best practices between partner institutions.

During the secondment, participants explored WUR’s internationally recognised research ecosystem, with a particular focus on the Information Technology Group. The programme provided valuable insights into digital transformation, systems engineering, Open Science practices, Horizon Europe proposal development, research support mechanisms, and interdisciplinary approaches to research and innovation.

The visit also included productive meetings with Prof. Dr. Bedir Tekinerdogan and researchers from WUR, enabling discussions on emerging research topics and potential areas for future collaboration. Participants exchanged expertise in fields such as artificial intelligence, digital twins, smart water management, and data analytics, while identifying opportunities for joint research activities and international project development.

Beyond technical knowledge sharing, the secondment strengthened institutional relationships between the participating organisations and created a solid foundation for future cooperation. The mobility activity contributed to the MAPIT Project’s objectives by supporting researcher mobility, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration, and promoting sustainable partnerships within the European Research Area.

The MAPIT Project extends its sincere appreciation to Wageningen University & Research, the Information Technology Group, and all colleagues who contributed to the success of this secondment. Through initiatives such as these, MAPIT continues to foster international collaboration, strengthen institutional capacity, and support the development of long-term research partnerships across Europe.
